Alocasia Melo Aurea
Alocasia Melo Aurea is a rare jewel Alocasia with golden variegation. This unique variety stands out with its thick, rugged leaves and striking lime to golden-yellow variegation that glows in the right light.
Unlike most Alocasias, the Melo has leathery, textured foliage that gives it a bold, sculptural look. The ‘Aurea’ variegation adds a rare pop of color, making it a standout centerpiece in any plant collection. It’s a slow grower, but well worth the wait for each new, show-stopping leaf.
How to care
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Too much sun can scorch the leaves, while too little will slow growth and fade the vibrant colors.
Watering: Keep soil slightly moist but never soggy. Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. This plant is sensitive to overwatering, so be sure to let excess water drain completely.
Humidity: High humidity (above 60%) helps keep the foliage lush and healthy. Consider using a humidifier or placing the plant near other tropicals.
Temperature: Loves warmth and thrives in temperatures between 65–80°F (18–27°C).
Soil: Use a well-draining, chunky mix — ideal blends include potting soil with perlite, orchid bark, and a bit of sphagnum moss.
